Disconnect
Before entering into a specific operating system, you can try one of the two methods. First, disconnect the cable or DSL modem for a few minutes. Five minutes is usually sufficient to cause the IP address to reset when you connect to a modem and turn on the power. If not changed, try leaving the modem from an unplugged overnight. This has a good chance to work in number of cases. However, this is not a universal fix.
ShutDown
Click on Start, then Run, and then enter CMD. This will provide room to enter the phrase "ipconfig/release." Do not admit the quotes. After the system accepts this command, get into the phrase "ipconfig/renew." An alternative to try on windows is to shut down the computer after entering the "ipconfig/release" command. Leave the system off nightlong, making sure to switch off Ethernet and cable/DSL modems. Once you power up the system the following morning, the IP address should be reset.
Network On Router
Associate with the admin console on the router. Follow the instructions to release the IP address. This will vary, depending on the specs put in place by the manufacturer of the router. Power down the router, by on Ethernet and modems, and leave everything off overnight. Once the system is pulled back up the following morning, the IP address should be reset.
